Stakeholders Relationship Management

1st SEMESTER / COURSE: PUBLIC RELATIONS STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

Stakeholders Relationship Management gains importance in a framework of distinction between stakeholders and publics. This curricular unit is based on the principle that the environment analysis should be the most complete and profound possible, the relationship of the organisation with the environment should not be only restricted to  publics, but should also take into account  stakeholders, thereby enabling the Public Relations Professional to work in a strategic and proactive way, enabling the reduction of problems and promoting the establishment of stable relationships with groups that can influence or be influenced by the organisation.

Through a participatory teaching methodology, we intend that students understand the concepts of stakeholders and publics, the relationships between the different stakeholders and the organisation and the influence of stakeholders in organizational performance, and develop strategic capabilities that enable them to map different stakeholders and to design and implement strategies for relationship building with different stakeholders and publics. To this end, it will be crucial for students to know the concepts and different paradigms of stakeholder management, and improve knowledge and develop skills of mapping, prioritization and management of stakeholder relationships.
