On November 28, the School of Communication and Media Studies (ESCS) carried out a fire drill that began at 11:18 a.m. and ended at 11:28 a.m.
The fictitious source of the fire was located in the video post-production suites on floor -1 of the School.
The alarm siren sounded throughout the building for 1 minute and 30 seconds, alerting the academic community to the need to evacuate.

The drill aimed to assess the effectiveness of the internal emergency procedures, as well as the response time of the intervention team and the behaviour of students, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff in a simulated risk situation.
The evacuation proceeded as expected, allowing the building’s and its occupants’ reaction capacity to be tested under real conditions.

After the drill ended, a debriefing was held that brought together the intervention and evacuation teams, the observers, and the ESCS Management Board. The overall assessment was mostly positive, highlighting good coordination and compliance with safety standards. However, some vulnerabilities and points for improvement were identified, which will serve as a basis for strengthening preparedness and safety in future emergency situations.

ESCS emphasizes that regularly carrying out these drills is essential for promoting a more aware, trained, and safe community.
