Objectives

In a partnership between ESCS and WHO Europe, this course unit is focused on the WHO methodology for Risk Communication, Community Engagement, and Infodemic Management (RCCE-IM) through behavior change methodologies. Students will explore the fundamentals of RCCE-IM while recognizing the roles and activities of various teams and organizations.

They will develop strategies for RCCE-IM interventions in emergency contexts; implement RCCE-IM processes and principles across diverse settings and audiences; identify and collaborate with communities, partners, and stakeholders to shape RCCE-IM strategies; design, test, and evaluate audience-tailored messages using effective channels; and apply appropriate approaches to infodemic management.

Students will build the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively manage communication and engagement during crisis situations, ensuring informed and resilient communities.

The course will feature guest speakers from the WHO and other civil society organizations. Throughout the semester, students will have the opportunity to apply and implement the WHO RCCE-IM methodology in a real-world project or organization.
