Objectives
This course unit aims to comprehensively and complementarily address the ethical principles guiding sports practice, highlight the challenges arising from the mediatization of sport, and critically reflect on the professional conduct of journalists. It will discuss the effectiveness and scope of the mechanisms of regulation, protection, and accountability that govern this activity.
At the same time, and based on the principle of distinguishing between ethical reasoning and legal reasoning, students will be introduced to basic knowledge of sports law. Topics will include the legal framework of clubs and sports corporations, broadcasting rights, anti-doping laws, labor relations in sports, and taxation in football, among others.
