Objectives

This curricular unit aims to endow students with conceptual tools that enable a vision and a critical reflection on the image, providing them at the same time with tools for its analysis and interpretation where tools for decoding the various types of images will be acquired and developed. The aim is thus to develop a framework of theoretical references and analytical methods in view of creating a systematization of visual experience.

Skills

Get the conceptual tools that allow one to perceiver an image and the role of the viewer in the construction of the image.
Acquire the knowledge and understanding of the device of the image, by analyzing the means, the production techniques and the supports of the images.
Acquisition of the theoretical and historical foundations that allow to evaluate the role of the image as the system of social representation.
Developing intra-imagineal analysis skills: the constitutive elements of an image; the represented space; the time represented; the narration and the sense of the image.
Understanding the relationships between image and art.
Developing the articulation ability of a critical and contextual discourse on various types of image.
Capacity of analysis and interpretation of different imaging practices.
