Jaden Gomes, a Master’s student in Public Relations Strategic Management at ESCS, has been re-elected President of the Academic Federation of the Polytechnic University of Lisbon (FAIPL) for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The inauguration ceremony took place on 2 March 2026, in the Noble Hall of the Presidency Services of the IPL, with the presence of several institutional representatives, including António Belo, President of IPL; André Sendin, President of ESCS; Amadeu Borges Ferro, President of the ESSL; João Lobato, Administrator of IPL Social Action Services; Elisabete Alegria, Vice-President of the ISEL; Marina Silva, Vice-President of ESSL; and Trindade Nunes, Student Ombudsman.

During his address, António Belo highlighted the fundamental role of student associations in promoting an integrated vision of the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon. He emphasised FAIPL’s capacity to act across schools, transcending institutional boundaries, and recognised the efforts of previous boards, which balanced these responsibilities with academic life and student representation.

In his first speech of the new term, Jaden Gomes underlined the history of the student movement and reinforced his commitment to keeping FAIPL autonomous, non-partisan, and focused on student well-being. The re-elected president stated that ongoing projects would continue, with particular attention to consulting the student community and using data as a basis for intervention. For 2026/2027, Jaden Gomes set “unity” between schools as a priority, focusing on areas such as student housing, mental health, and study conditions at the Polytechnic University of Lisbon.
