On January 17, the School of Communication and Media Studies at the Polytechnic University of Lisbon will celebrate 36 years of activity dedicated to training professionals in the field of communication, reaffirming its role as a benchmark in public higher education in Portugal.
Over more than three decades, ESCS has consolidated an educational model that combines academic rigor, a strong practical component, and a permanent connection to society. It stands out for its proximity to the professional sector, pedagogical innovation, and commitment to citizenship, sustainability, and social responsibility.
The celebrations for the 36th anniversary will take place on January 19, with a program that reflects the values and diversity of the School's academic community. The session begins with the raising of the Green Flag, symbol of the Eco-Schools distinction, which recognizes ESCS's commitment to promoting good environmental practices and sustainability.
The program also includes the awarding of Innovation and Society Awards, the presentation of Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) Scholarships and Caixa Geral de Depósitos Merit Scholarships, distinctions that recognize academic merit, innovation, and the social impact of students' achievements.
One of the highlights of the ceremony will be the presentation of the #25anosESCS Seniority Medals, which recognize the career and dedication of employees who have contributed to the School's success and growth for a quarter of a century
The celebrations will also feature a performance by escstunis, the ESCS academic choir founded in 1994, followed by a social gathering promoting interaction between students, teaching staff, non-teaching staff, alumni, and partners.
On this occasion, the President of ESCS, André Sendin, emphasizes that he believes “that the vision of the School we are building, together with students, teachers, non-teaching staff, alumni, and partners, will continue to position us at the forefront of Communication.”
With 36 years of history, ESCS renews its commitment to demanding, critical training that is aligned with the contemporary challenges of Communication, while remaining attentive to the social, technological, and cultural transformations that shape the present and future of the profession
