Description of ESCS
The School of Communication and Media Studies (Escola Superior de Comunicação Social - ESCS) is part of the Lisbon Polytechnic Institute. ESCS offers four degrees which have strong theoretical and practical components, thus guaranteeing a privileged position in what regards the labour market: Advertising and Marketing, Corporate Communication/ Public Relations, Journalism and Audiovisual and Multimedia.
For the school year of 2006/2007 the ESCS adapted its degrees to the principles of the Bologna Convention, adopting a method based on the transmission of competencies.
The degrees have a duration of three years (six semesters) with 19 to 21 class hours, distributed through five to seven classes by semester and are organised in a system of credits, distributed in different scientific areas.
